Shooting Details

On the 12th december we are meeting in the college at 12 0'clock.From there we will be travelling to newtownmountkennedy to indulge ourselves in a little excitement and destruction.This will involve archery,rifle range firing and of course the well loved clay pigeon shooting for the big kicks!!!!
There will be organised competition in all categories so there will be a clear slick shooter by the end of the day.
The shooting should take roughly around 3 to 3 and a half hours so the idea is to be back in the college well before 6 in the evening.
For 35euro you will get the chance to step up and give all the above a go

Updates 3rd November 2009

As requested, we now have a discussion forum, courtesy of facebook :). We'll eventually have our own one, but Rome wasn't built in a day.

The Google social toolbar is gone from the top of the page, it's not really being used, no one comments anyway.

Currently working on a map for the page, of all the places we've been, hence the silly looking "test image", any comments, criticism, tips, more than welcome!

Will get surfing pictures up asap also :)

Were gonna be getting hoodies and gear soon, if you want stuff you have to fill out a sponsorship card, if you want a card, contact Daragh, we'll send a text out soon.

Tim asked to inform members that there is currently a massive closing down sale in Millets in the Square, definitely worth checking out for all kinds of equipment.

Latest Updates 16th October

There's a kayaking trip being organised for Friday, text Cillian to book a place. There's a video up for last weeks Slaney trip, and a few other entries have been updated.
Sites being changed a bit, if you log on and text is missing/backgrounds messed up, please contact one of us to let us know! Thanks :)

Also if you have any fundraising ideas, let us know :)

Eoin will be collecting money for the surftrip this friday, text him for details, and if you can't make that today, contact Daragh, the treasurer, all details should be in the original emails that were sent out.

Beginners Kayaking

Due to the number of beginners that have joined the Adventure Club this year, the first kayaking session will be held in Balrothery Sports Complex Swimming Pool. The idea behind the pool is to get everyone comfortable with the concept of being in a kayak.

We will be holding two pool sessions next week, Tuesday 6th and Wednesday 7th, from 9.30-11pm. Meeting at the front steps at the Student Union at half 9 sharp.

Please contact Cillian to book your place, it costs €5, and you can only go to one of the sessions so get in touch asap as places are limited.

Once a pool session has taken place, people will be assessed and a river trip will commence from the following week onwards.

You can check pictures of the pool sessions further down on the blog to see whats involved, any questions, don't hesitate to get in touch.

After a very successful few years, Daragh Cummins has stood down as chairperson to focus on the final year of his honours degree, and new elections were held, the Committee is as follows;

Irish Bog Snorkelling Championships 09

Bog snorkelling; as defined by their website (http://www.irishbogsnorkelling.com/index.htm) "is a sporting event that consists of competitors completing two consecutive lengths of a 60-yard (55 m) water filled trench cut through a peat bog, in the shortest time possible. Competitors must wear snorkels and flippers, and complete the course without using conventional swimming strokes, relying on flipper power alone."

Tim Mason; "So this is all going down in castleblaney on the 12th from 12 til 5 in the day with awards at 9 in evening wondering whos up for this?????? im competing and wondering if anyone else dares enter or at least for the fun get away for a day and do something completely randomly messed up then hit the pub. travel time is roughly hour and fifteen it does however have an entry form to fill in. so.......................... whos in for fun?????????????"
Tim went and represented the club, along with friends, and did us proud, reaching third place :)

Liffey Descent 09

Eoin Tim and Andy participated in the Liffey Descent today, completing it in 4 hours 30 mins.

Clubs and Socs Awards 2009

Held in the Maldron Hotel; The Club had a very successful night, with Daragh receiving one award, and Eoin receiving two awards, out of three nominations.

Kayaking Trip, Carne.

Eoin organised this brilliant trip to Carne in Wexford. First time kayak surfing for some of the members, and a great weekend was had by all, including pier jumps, sunrise walks, 20 bottles of beer, and lots of spooning.

Surfing Trip to Bundoran December 08

We left for Bundoran early Saturday, arriving in Bundoran for 11, we booked into the hostel and then went surfing on Rosnowlagh beach. The following day we went to Tullan Strand.
